Setting up Estudyante Network has been a tedious task and I hope to “make it” this time. The site has come a long way and I am happy to see that more and more students are joining the site. I hope members can invite their friends and families to register and participate as we build the largest student social network in the country.

This domain (estudyante.net) is actually the first website I put online. Five years ago I envisioned an online community of Filipino students coming from various schools, colleges, and universities. I know that’s really possible since I will not run out of people to “market” the site since more and more students enroll every year. And that’s where it all began.

This version of Estudyante is actually the 4th generation of this website. The first generation was a forum powered by phpBB. The code was so modified that even myself lost track of all the modifications I made compared to the original code. Students then were so active but most posts are just one liners – hi and hello. The second generation was another phpBB forum, the first one was bombarded with spam posts so I decided to take it offline. However, many members seemed to lost their interest in the new forum. For more than one year, the domain was just parked and of no use at all. About a year ago, I decided to create a “social network” for students, using the same domain, but the script will be powered by WordPress, a popular blogging platform. However, it was very unfortunate that while I am busy with some other sites, I forgot to save a backup of the database, the scripts, and all the other add-ons installed. The server crashed, and I had no choice but to start again from scratch.

It was just a great feeling to see that people are still coming and registering at the site. I hope to see more members and I look forward
